help with connection issues

Hi people. This is my first post so apologies if it may be in the wrong section. I have found a lot of useful answers here so hopefully someone can help.

Firstly i usually use a goconnect server supplied with the airline im on but its quite laggy and i am trying to do some formation flying so trying the open servers.

Basically it seems i can connect directly using the IP address on servers as i spawn and can open and use the chat window. I can change views and pan around the aircraft but the aircraft is not recieving any input with controls ie engine start, rudder and wing movements using both my yoke or the keyboard keys. Also the green bar at the top displays no text.

My friend is able to do everything perfectly. I have opened the following ports to try to resolve with no success.

2300-2400
6000
23456
6112
6073

Now the strange part is my other friend can host a session and everything works perfectly for me on his IP but on any other ip i get nothing!??

Hopefully this gives you enough to work with but please let me know if there is anything i can try.

Cheers

Only ports required are 6112-6122.

Thanks, I will try removing the other ports from my rules and see if that resolves the issue.

Its just strange how I can get on the session an see the other active users but it doesn't receive any control inputs and doesn't seem to connect fully.?

Closing the ports won't fix the problem, but as they are not used by fsx you should close them.

It sounds like your session is paused, can't think what else would cause your problem.

Let me clarify the PORTS are a "range" from 6112 to 6122.
Also in your firewall... set FSX via the "PROGRAM" method (rather than by ports)... for both Outbound and Inbound rules. That will include the range from 61121-6122 UPD, etc.

Thanks for the replies guys I am back home tomorrow night so i will post the results. Hopefully this will resolve the issues. I do have the firewall turned off completely. My friend joins the session at the same time and he can fly fine. Are there any test sessions I can try and join to get some live help?

OK Tim I have been ages trying to resolve the same problem, but there is an inherant problem with the home hub 3 type A even when you port forward it will not work even tho they are showing open, even with DMZ enabled still nothing, Well the day came when i finally stumbled on the BT website and on there own forums, people moaning about this HH3 will not port forward and finally I stumbled across a post made by a BT member stating there is a inherant problem with the firmware and the only way to resolve it is to replace with a new Home Hub 4 or 5 the ports work on these, so I rang BT and bingo they want me to renew my contract for 18 months just to get another hub, so I said no and decide to purchase a home hub 4 from ebay, still wrapped for £15 and its on route as we speak, I will post once received and installed and report back.

All I can see is update the firmware and it should work fine.
