Hi guys. I would like to incorporate the Teamspeak channel switching function into my server but I've heard of some cases where this can "Whitelist" and close your server... As a newbie to this whole thing, the tutorials go over my head as I dont understand some of the things it says to do. Can someone please tell me (in simple terms) how to enable the changes?

Thanks in advance

David,

I noticed your TS3 server is hosted by TServerHQ (or atleast it was earlier but now appears to be done. Not supprising from TServerHQ tbh). I understand that they are appealing because they are cheap however what you gain in pennies saved you loose reliability and customer service.

TSeverHQ's customer service is appalling.

They have set a flood limit on their servers which makes development and implementation of other clients using server queries very difficult.

With that aside it seem you are a bit confused and got the wrong end of the stick. A whitelist is basically a list of IP addresses that a host keeps that they add to their firewall that basically ignores any activity to and from their servers from that address. In terms of TeamSpeak hosts, they add your IP address (the address that is acting as a server query admin) to a white list and they ignore any flood limits set across their servers. Very few allow this, however some, like 'GameServers' do allow this to be done.

To answer your question, other than changing TeamSpeak, theres not much you can do. You can still run FSOpen Server teamspeak channel switching with TServerHQ however we have experienced problems, we cant be sure if that's FSOpen Server or is its TServerHQ.

Yea, I noticed after purchasing the TServerHQ that we are quite limited with permissions etc, something that I wasn't too happy about. But, I suppose I'll just go with the flow with it.

Thanks for the rapid response Joe :)

For TS Servers I'd go with Gameservers.

Or you can host a $5/month VPS and get a non-profit license.
Allows you to host up to 512 users.

Gameservers allow whitelist
And a VPS allows you FULL access to EVERYTHING of the TS.

I believe the FSOpen server software was designed so it would work without being whitelisted.
