| Bot text injection time interval increase? | |
Robert Dunn 3rd Jan 2013 04:41:58 | May I re-request examination of the maximum time interval of bot text injection above the current 5 minute maximum? While we do appreciate the new ability to completely turn the bot and all it's wonderful functions and capabilities totally off, turning everything off is not practical at all.
We have experimented with eliminating all injected text string. The bot continues to inject software level text, however. The visibility of recent relevant ! commands and chat is greatly diminished by the 5 minute bot text injections. A frequency of 5 minutes maximum serves us no useful purpose in our use of the many fine features of all aspects of FSOpen software. I again request a bot text injection maximum increase from the current 5 minute limit up to, say, 30 minutes (or more), in increments if more practical. To us, ideally, a toggle switch to temporarily disable bot text injection completely while still retaining all other useful FSOpen features would be ideal. Taking the FSOpen server completely down and subsequently back up to temporarily disable bot text injection has many down sides that make this methodology prohibitive. Additionally, anecdotally but consistently, Windows dialogue boxes immediately disappear when using FSOpen software. Empty recycle bin confirmation box disappears within half a second or less and thus makes this empty confirmation unclickable. The rapid use of the enter key is the (inconvenient) work around. Other Windows 7 system dialogue boxes behave similarly. Respects, Robert Dunn 2 |

The info message will remain though. |
Robert Cohen ![]() 3rd Jan 2013 11:14:05 | I would like to see 10 minutes at lease now that they are coming pass the fsopen sessions page they know that its fsopen software I know your are strongly set on the 5 minute
I think that the majority of players are in more than 10 minutes and will see the session info |

I would love to see an increase in the message gap of the auto message as well. I don't mind the advertising....I just think displaying the message every 5 minutes is way too often. As it is now, FsOpen virtually hi-jacks the FSX message box rendering it useless. It's next to impossible to carry on a conversation in the chat box, or post way-points and other information in the box. Any information get's quickly buried by the auto message, while making it hard to scroll up and find previous information. I think every 20 minutes would be more appropriate as most people spend longer then 20 minutes in the session, they are sure to see the FsOpen advertisement at least once. It would also be nice if the auto message took up only one line. As it is now it takes around 3-5 lines before even putting in your own custom message. Thanks! p.s. maybe this could be an option for paying/subscribed customers? A lot of programs out there offer less advertising for paying customers. (perhaps a one line advertisement every 20 minutes or so) |
Curley Campbell 4th Jan 2013 02:53:06 | Maybe... the auto message to only appear when a new user is identified as entering the session. Then time out and remove it's self from the chat box... similar to the entering/leaving session entries that are made by players who enter/exit the session. I would think this would reduce the clutter along with reducing the level of extra packets being processed with the 1-5 minute auto posts.
Although, what I would really like to see... is a separate window popup overlay.. with a CLOSE button... for the auto message ONLY when a player joins. This would make sure all players see session messages and your rightful tag. This way the chat box would not be cluttered. However, I'm NOT a programmer... so no clue if that is even possible with FSX. |
