Clive Baines 18th Dec 2012 23:56:10 | Hi there, How do we see or find the pilots ranking, Could you let me know thanks,UK57C |
Joe Clifford ![]() 19th Dec 2012 07:53:31 | Hello,
Pilot ranks used to be accessible from a members page, however, seeing as there where so many member signed up it became difficult to find yourself on there. Pilot ranks can still be seen (I believe) through flight strips. When a flight plan is filed there rank should appear on the top left hand part of the strip. Regards Joe |
Dave Wave ![]() 19th Dec 2012 09:13:53 | They are shown in flight strips if the pilot has logged onto this web site or pilot assistant with the same ip address he's flying with.
ATC ranks are shown on the session page if you open the flight plan pages. (or if that's embedded on your own web site) Who should be able to change these ranks though? Do we need or want them? |
Geoff Brayshaw ![]() 19th Dec 2012 11:01:43 | I think rankings are particular to the session. Some server owners may choose to be less stringent than others in their ranking criteria.
I think it will be difficult to maintain a standard level of ranking across all sessions, for ATC or pilots. I understand from previous discussions with you Dave, that it may be difficult for rankings to be managed by individual server owners/administrators, so in my opinion I think it would be better to do away with them. |
Geoff Brayshaw ![]() 19th Dec 2012 11:13:12 | I would also add that, whatever the outcome of this discussion, I think rankings can be highly motivational in a good session if managed well and updated. Conversely, they can serve to demotivate members if left to become outdated and not displaying a 'true' measure of a players ability. |
Dave Wave ![]() 19th Dec 2012 11:27:10 | Here's an idea, what if users choose their own rankings?
The idea is you set your own ranking so ATC know you can take a SID etc? Or conversely that ATC know how to give one. |
