Nope, its designed to be run on a dedicated server.
You would be better of using someone else's server. DigitalThemePark will let you use their server for free, I think they have about 4 or 5 groups now.

FSopen server was designed for pro servers running ATC etc. When they see an FSopen server they expect to be using a dedicated server with a bot.

With Gamespy disappearing people are using the server so they get listed and do not want to use the other facilities. I will be writing a different client soon, one that just lists your session without any of the other features other then counting the number of people in a session. Until then hang on in there!

I respectfully request an increase in the Auto Message tab, Minutes Between Posts setting WAY above the current 5 minute maximum.

May I request a maximum setting up around 60 minutes between auto message posts. Selectable segments greater than the current one minute intervals would work fine. 10 minute or 15 minute increments would be fine in addition to the single minute increments up to the current maximum of 5 minutes.

We at msFLIGHTS.net do run a dedicated server. Live ATC is very rare on our server. We have disabled in-game communication and currently request/require TeamSpeak3 voice com on our TS server (ks.jmainguy.com). We run Pro FSOpen and we are very grateful for this fine service. We actively support efforts to supplant the now nonfunctional GameSpy connection method offered by this fine site as well as FSX Beyond GameSpy . com and other FSX multi community coordination efforts.

Even as our servers are dedicated FSX multi hosts, those servers are used additionally for other textual communications. The bot's commandeering of the server's cursor focus is extremely inconvenient when trying to command the server or externally type. The five minute bot update maximum results in external typed text ending up posting in the in-game chat box (sometimes to our great embarrassment). Additionally, as we have disabled in-game voice com for other legitimate reasons, text com entered in the FSX chat box is forced above the readable "horizon" by bot posts and is therefore effectively lost as a method of communication and/or instruction. Bot auto posts also have a nasty way of inserting the FSOpen auto message into external server generated textual communications.

Whaddaya think, Mr. Wave? Is this post limit maximum increase doable?

First time poster, long time fan. Wingman is now very busy and I'll try to take on some of Wingman's duties in correspondence with FSOpen and implementation of the FSOpen server software. The msFLIGHTS.net main servers are located in my residential computer room.

Respects, Bob ...

I appreciate the opportunity to explain, illustrate and input. Altho I've not chosen to post on this subject before, I read and hear of other FSOpen administrators, particularly those running a non-dedicated server experiencing similar concerns re: bot posts and cursor focus diversions. I'm on TS3 over at msFLIGHTS.net most of the UK late day thru late evening and I'll additionally look for you here or on AVSIM TS and forums. We will be linking this FSOpen/sessions page on our msFLIGHTS.net forums page, probably at the top of forums section with an additional reference to the efforts here in an appropriate thread.
Respects, Bob...
