Kenneth Brander ![]() 7th Dec 2012 07:43:30 | Good Morning Everyone! c",
Dear Gamespy I wish to complain your servers has gone down with no such notice. I would hope you put it back up as you will have allot of complaints due to the inadiquit service of gamespy on fsx. There is allot of people in the community and nothing is happening i request the answer why and so does much of the community. Kind Regards, Ben Gourlay Hi Ben, As you've seen our posts on other titles GameSpy is a service provider to game publishers, we have service agreements in place for each title we provide services, when a publisher declines to renew the service we follow their lead and disable the services we provide. It's up to the publisher to communicate their plans to their game's communities - this, unfortunately, rarely happens. You should reach out to MS and share your indignation. I know I was surprised. Gamespy.com Has anyone confirmed this yet? Kind Regards; Kenneth Brander |
Dave Taylor ![]() 7th Dec 2012 08:29:47 | Microsoft tele 800-936-5700 call and complain I told them I was going APPLE AND MAC if they dont straighten their shit out.....LOL

Kenneth Brander ![]() 7th Dec 2012 09:06:20 | Well if this proves to be true we are getting pitchforks and torches, who`s with us?! |
Ashley Jones ![]() 7th Dec 2012 11:23:06 | Well i have been told that gamespy has been shut down permantly |
Dave Wave ![]() 7th Dec 2012 11:38:36 | Lots of people saying its down for good but I've not seen any proof of that yet.
Very sad for everyone if its true. |
Ashley Jones ![]() 7th Dec 2012 11:49:14 | yeah i got these 2 links not 100 percent proof but hints at it http://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/forum/windows_7-gaming/fsx-gamespy-server-is-down/a13dceac-5c50-4b35-b19b-def9df84c20c |
Ashley Jones ![]() 7th Dec 2012 11:50:55 | but i just tried to sign in and its just dead nothing happens |
Kenneth Brander ![]() 7th Dec 2012 14:37:03 | Yes. All our users have identified the same problem as you describe it, not able to push the button. We have still to get a confirmation from either parts, i actually even don't know where this was copied from the thing i pasted which was just a thing circulating. No others have a definitive confirmation yet? |
Dave Taylor ![]() 7th Dec 2012 15:26:26 | This is what I have gotten from MS on the gamespy issue and my reply back to them I await a reply
Anannya Podder replied on Support Engineer Community Star Hi, Welcome to Microsoft Community! You are facing issues playing FSX gold on Game spy. The best way to deal with this issue will be to contact Game spy. Please get in touch with them for assistance. Hope it helps! If you need any assistance on Windows let us know. We will be happy to help you! Hi Ben, As you've seen our posts on other titles GameSpy is a service provider to game publishers, we have service agreements in place for each title we provide services, when a publisher declines to renew the service we follow their lead and disable the services we provide. It's up to the publisher to communicate their plans to their game's communities - this, unfortunately, rarely happens. You should reach out to MS and share your indignation. I know I was surprised. Gamespy.com It appears MICROSOFT is letting down its customers by not providing a gaming community for its customers that have purchased FSX..this is the reason we can not connect to gamespy and play the multi-player part OF FSX...This makes me lose faith in MS and their products now, you have a great this with FSX and your ruining it.. Please remedy this for us so we can continue to enjoy a wonderful game |
Dave Taylor ![]() 7th Dec 2012 15:44:13 | I am presently on the phone with MS sharing the info with the tech support and voicing my concerns on this problem. mircosoft refuses to renew gamesspy service agreement and suggests that I download microsoft flight and play it...I told them it was a piece of crap and I was letting the gaming community know as we speak of microsofts feelings on its customers and I am asking the gaming community to boycott microsoft...I might not have went about it the right way, as Im mad as hell...and if you all could spread the word about HOW MS says FSX is obsolete and they refuse to renew..call and voice your opinion 800-936-5700 dont know if the number works worldwide but it does in the USA
Thanks guys |
Dave Taylor ![]() 7th Dec 2012 16:03:47 | Ok Im sorry if Im posting to much but heres the deal I called back and asked to file a complaint and taked to them for about 20 mins. and told them how unhappy I am and that FSX is a game played by alot of people worldwide still and the web sites Im on have alot of people and theres post calling for boycotting MS and listing phone numbers to call and voice your complaints and told them the one website has 53,000+ members and that MS might be flooded with complaints:: now I know they are probably blowing smoke up my you know where, BUT they did say they took my complaint and will send my concerns and suggestions to upper management and see what they can do I suggested adding my ideas to the game....so sorry if Im rambling but just dont want to see FSX die...thanks |
Dave Wave ![]() 7th Dec 2012 16:55:50 | Thanks for the info Dave. Keep us updated. |
Ashley Jones ![]() 7th Dec 2012 17:18:53 | ok so I take then its a case of microsoft not wantingt to renew thier service agreement who knows they might use their own servers? |
Dave Taylor ![]() 7th Dec 2012 17:43:00 | Hi, Ashley,
Its possible But I doubt it very much because the way they talked their trying to push Microsoft Flight as that's where they tried to send me.. My advice is for everyone to call and voice your dissatisfaction at the way MS is handling FSX..If enough people complain they might bring back FSX with more stuff instead of saying its out-dated and useless. Again the phone number is 800-936-5700 and spread the word lets get FSX back where it belongs..And Dave I will try and spread the word my brother and sisters. |
Kenneth Brander ![]() 7th Dec 2012 18:30:36 | 'I was in a chat with a FSX supporter, and she told me that fsx has a problem and it will get back in 24-28 hours...'
'And now i called Microsoft, and they said: One moment please and hanged up... Bullshit microsoft' I am confused. |
Dave Wave ![]() 7th Dec 2012 18:52:58 | If anyone in the US could phone MS on the number above and record the conversation that would be useful. If anyone can do this and email me the recording I'll arrange some publicity.
|
Dave Taylor ![]() 7th Dec 2012 21:05:29 | I would dave but have no way to record it, sorry, but looks like my call turned some heads if Ken got hung up on they know the shit gonna hit the fan...EVERYONE please keep the heat on MS and call and email them. |
David Figge ![]() 7th Dec 2012 22:37:15 | Dave,
Just put a link to your session page on our RealFsx site. Hopefully everyone will catch on. FYI, Just spoke with Microsoft. "They will no longer support FSX - only through their forum". "sorry!" is all they had to say. Microsoft leaves a little more bad taste behind each year. Glad I've been buying more Apple products lately! Any-who.....did my part in complaining to the big machine! Best regards, |
Curley Campbell 8th Dec 2012 00:53:36 | For what it is worth... my understanding from an inside souce at Microsoft.. Microsoft did announce a couple years ago... they were cancelling the agreement. We sat around.. and it never went down (until now) Also.. I have attempted to contact MS on technical matters about FSX a couple times in the past 2 years... and been told they no longer support FSX at all... and have NO support staff.
IF you will notice the msg from GameSpy... they were reviewing their cancelled agreements... and pulled the ones that had been cancelled.... I could be wrong here.. but I suspect.. it just took GameSpy some time to catch up on the active games they were supporting. Could be nothing.. but there again.. could be the case. |
Dave Wave ![]() 8th Dec 2012 09:36:34 | Found this article
http://sniperelitev2.com/Forum/default.aspx?g=posts&t=2062 "A few weeks ago, the online multiplayer servers for Sniper Elite were suddenly switched off by Glu, the third-party service we had been paying to maintain them. For the past seven years we have run these servers at a cost to ourselves so that fans of Sniper Elite could continue to play online for free. This decision by Glu was not taken in consultation with us and was beyond our control. We have been talking to them since to try and get the servers turned back on. We have been informed that in order to do so would cost us tens of thousands of pounds a year - far in excess of how much we were paying previously. We also do not have the option to take the multiplayer to a different provider. Because the game relies on Glu and Gamespy’s middleware, the entire multiplayer aspect of the game would have to be redeveloped by us, again, at the cost of many tens of thousands of pounds. While we are not happy about the situation, as an independent developer we simply do not have the resources to pay the massive costs of new servers along with redeveloping a seven-year-old game. We share the disappointment of fans who have played the game since it was published in 2005. This is not something we intended or wanted to happen, but unfortunately it has been beyond our control. We have always looked to support our fan community and we hope the past seven years of free multiplayer service have been evidence of that - we're sorry that the servers have been shut down in this way. We would like to thank all the fans who have continued to support Rebellion and Sniper Elite." I'm guessing that Microsoft were paying a small amount to Gamespy for hosting and have baulked at how much the company now wants and has refused to pay. I doubt Microsoft would have entered into an agreement with Gamespy without covering cost increases etc. Its possible that Microsoft are challenging Gamespy on breaking an agreement, however, fsx was released in 2006 and maybe any agreement has now expired. In short, it looks like Gamespy has gone for good. |
Nishan Bava 9th Dec 2012 16:10:53 | Hats off to all of you who put up all their thoughts. I am new at fsopen and want to play here along with fsx and with all of you. Thanks guys once agian. |
Dave Taylor ![]() 10th Dec 2012 19:54:45 | hEY dave dont know if any legal action can be taken but M is still selling FSX I screenshot it today just in case they yank if off the net. So if they are still selling it they should continue to offer tech support via phone, since they still sell what they call a outdated program...Just food for thought |
Dave Wave ![]() 10th Dec 2012 20:05:28 | Have you got a web link Dave? |
David Figge ![]() 10th Dec 2012 22:44:06 | How about this for MS?
http://www.microsoftstore.com/store/msstore/en_US/pd/ThemeID.27509700/Flight-Simulator-X-Gold-Edition-PC-Game/productID.216458700 Still selling a product that they have "officially" stop supporting |
David Figge ![]() 10th Dec 2012 23:01:33 | This is a snapshot of MS online sales
|
Dave Wave ![]() 10th Dec 2012 23:35:22 | Very good Dave, especially the last comment, "what version of windows are you currently running?" I bet she already knows from the header passed from your browser and is just looking for an upgrade sale. (I'm so cynical)
Anyway, Not sure if there is any point in harassing Microsoft on this point. They could decide to stop selling fsx directly or maybe put a sticker over it saying some multi-player functionality is now broken. If GameSpy can be resurrected at a reasonable cost I'm sure they would fix it. I'm surprised they're still selling it though, I mean they're still pretending flight is a great purchase! Are they selling any older versions! |
Ryan York 10th Dec 2012 23:43:36 | I think we are beating our heads against a brick wall with microsoft.
Dave do your magic and you are welcome to come fly with us any time! If you join the usavaf Forums you will be automatically accepted. Regards USAVAF |
