"I can still see it online"

If you are using gamespy you have found your culprit :)

If Running a FSX MP Server under Windows 7, and you have it connected to gamespy, then be sure to set FSX to run in XP SP3 Compatability mode.

Hi guys
Sorry for the delay responce. work is busy.

Steff, I did notice that to that it was still showing as online in the FSOpen webpage. Not sure what was going on because It was not connecting as I could not see it to join it. I had to end up restarting the session.

Hi Dave
Yes I'm running the server on Win 7, regards to Gamespy I don't use it period. I host all sessions using "local network" and get everyone to koin via direct IP. I even join using local land and not through gamespy.

Just 10 minutes ago close to a two hour flight a message popped up saying that I Gamespy has kicked me from the server. would you like to continue Singel player.

Not sure what or why it would be indicating Gamespy when Im not connected to it.
I had a labtop running a KC45 for airrefueling purposes while I was in my pit. Not expecting any bandwidth issues as my internet has 50MB Upload and 50MB download speed.

I have nothing checked to kick for broadcasting or bandwidth or A/C on the server so I'm stumped..

Thanks in advance.

IF.. you are running your MP server.. on the internet.. IT is still being connecting via GAMESPY LAN module ... with a password.. similar to a regular session.

For the users (including you), this is great.. as they can bypass GameSpy log in and use direct connect IP address to your server. This method is usually better.. but not bullet proof.

Your SERVER... however, is STILL subject to all the normal GameSpy BS... and can drop in/out at any time (for various reasons)... as it still really being controlled through the connection between GameSpy (to/from Microsoft) to your server.

You will probably notice on the weekends... it becomes worse .. simply due to the load of all the other GameSpy Microsoft) traffic that is being handled. Something I just have to live with from Friday evenings to Monday mornings.

Hope that make sense.

Sorry.. the rest clipped off... to continue..
Using the Direct LAN method to host.. can also be subject to possible "noise" on your router. This can give you the same effect as being disconnected... and the session still be in place. I have experienced that myself... noticing A high peak of 800+ (Kbps)coming off the PC I am flying on.. when it connects to the session.... as this actually uses a different port within you LAN... when users normally attach via WAN on different ports. This also could be a source for our issue.

I know you said GameSpy "kicked" you.. is that the actual message on the server side??? .. or are you just simply seeing the "host has ended session.. or lost connection"? The "do you want to continue as a single player message.. "generally" simply means you lost connection to the session... however... the session was up. Like I said, having experienced that also... the session sometimes will reappear on the local machine I am flying on... after a short while (sometimes not).. and I can reconnect. I have to assume that is the router... cleaning up whatever.. and reconnecting.

HI Curley
Thanks for the explanation it beginning to make sence more and more. As for the the being kicked from Gamespy I'm pretty sure thats what it indicated. Next time I'll take another screen shot. But, I'm sure you know what its like in a MPsession for close to two hours and then getting kicked. I think its a good possibility I was seeing the message through increasing red eyes, lol.

Again thank you for the explanation

Cheers
Mark
