| FSopen server still not working | |
Kenneth Brander ![]() 18th Jun 2012 05:58:37 | FSopen server does not respond to commands and does not register users, however it says online and it also is shown as online at your site. We contacted Dave about a month ago concerning this issue, the only solution then was to remote connect to the server which is not an option for us, for several reasons. We have now noticed that FSopen server is demanding payment for the category our server falls under whom we are more then willing and able to pay -when- the software works as intended for us to.
The server is a dedicated machine(WinXP) FSX, WinPcap and FSopen is only running processes besides the OS itself with the respective processes it needs. FSX is clean, no mods. The server is not being blocked by firewall or such alike as the server is hooked straight into modem which has no security softhardware at all, have comfirmed this with the ISP, the server itself have no security measures which have been thoroughly checked with portscanner and other tools for investigating such issues. The server recieves IP directly from ISP, the ISP tells me there is no blockings on the node the server recieves IP from other then standard blockings which every ISP runs globably. (Example: blocking LAN DHCP servers from sending their signals on the WAN) Naturally we've checked FAQ and unfortunately -every- single post in the forum as there is only eleven pages and found no solution that will work at least for our case. We have tried and ruled out all solutions that the FAQ and forum points out and it still does not work, respond, posts or register users joining. We've ruled out framwork on own initiativ since it obviusly are depending on it, but no luck. We have also ruled out any issues with WinPcap no luck there either. We are giving this one last shot before we give up and switch to the alternative, we would prefer FSopen server as this is the only software we've found so far that allows the server to be visable at gamespy matchmaking, but this is a sacrifice we are willing to do if there is no solution in the near future. We are setting up an additional server shortly and will be needing this software as one of two will hopefully remain a open server. Please with all due respect, do not shoot us down as i see have been done in other cases in forum, blaming the issues on not reading the FAQ, forum or just lacking knowlegde about computers and networking, which yes in some case are the problem. This is an opportunity for the developer(s)to detect and solve a problem that problably more people have encountered, but didn't bother work at like we have been doing and gave up. Thank you for your time, awareness and understanding. Best Regards Kenneth Brander on behalf of: Gardermoen ATCNorway Server Team |
Dave Wave ![]() 18th Jun 2012 09:59:12 | Hi Kenneth,
I'd love to help but it's very difficult without having access to the server. Any reason why not? Anyway, lets try. The software only monitors fsx traffic. If you have users in fsx then it should be able to monitor them. Presume you are using standard ports 6112 to 6122? Using version 0.60, after someone joins the game do you see any network traffic in and out? (New boxes on the first tab) If none then you are using the wrong ports or it's monitoring the wrong network device. Disable unused wifi or ethernet adapters. If this fixes it I need to work out why my logic has failed. If you are seeing in or out traffic then maybe your behind a clever firewall, like a Cisco pix, which I might have to write a custom rule for. Report back! |
Kenneth Brander ![]() 18th Jun 2012 23:34:55 | Hi Dave,
It seems like we have no other option then, to let you into the system as we obviusly will be running in circles trying to explain this issue in detail with writing back and forth, posting screenshots and such. There is allready a teamviewer server running that we use for admin purposes as FSopen server is not working, with that said, we have noticed the issue with the bot freezing up with active teamviewer session at your FAQ. We will send you connection information at your email, will also send you IP so you can do testing as we have, to confirm our affirmation. Please give us a heads up some time in advance so we are prepared for any restarts and such. We hope this will provide a solution to all that have the same issue in the future. Thanks for you time c", Best Regards Kenneth Brander on behalf of: Gardermoen ATCNorway Server Team |
Dave Wave ![]() 19th Jun 2012 08:47:54 | Kenneth email me to say its now working. Alas we don't know what caused it.
